After numerous
musings as to what art style I was working in, I drew my conclusions through
a process of elimination. Many people when first observing these particular
pieces assumed they were surrealism. Surrealism by definition is subconscious
or dreamlike imagery.
Each piece of philoism is rooted in philosophy, philosophy I feel is the art
of common sense or looking at both sides of any given issue. Every detail
of these works is there for a definitive and conscious reason therefore it
is not surrealism. Philoism is a form of abstraction but far less ambiguous
and more defining in it's symbolism.
As far as art in general is concerned I feel even realism is a form of abstraction
from the stand point that it isn't real at all but an illusion based on a
perceived reality realism is an oxymoron when it pertains to art.
