Wolves; the very name to some people
conjures up visions of the “The Big Bad Wolf” another case of
ignorance and miss-information. It all started for a lot of us in children's
stories, Goldilocks, The Three Little Pigs are examples, thus the Myth. To
Native peoples of North America, Wolves were revered for their hunting skills
and often included as powerful figures in their spiritual stories, thus the
Mystical.
As well as being a great hunter the wolf has a fairly sophisticated
social system. Young are taken care of by the entire pack; hunting is done
in packs for the most part.
Looking at the drawing an alpha male stares at you from
the woods with a look of confidence as a group of wolf cubs play in the background.
Closer inspection of the drawing reveals the wolf seemingly growing out of
the ground. I believe the wolf is as much part of the environment as the environment
is part of the wolf.
There are neither bad nor good species just parts of a
whole keeping themselves in check.
